Hello all!

Hey guys, just some quick gallery announcements.

I've been getting quite a few faves on scraps. I know I shouldn't complain because a fave is a fave, but it's starting to get a bit frustrating. I posted scraps of spinning ambigrams to prove that they're legit, and people have been faving those instead of the actual deviations. The same goes with my rock salt photo. I posted a scrap of the photo signed by the cast of Supernatural, and now that's starting to get faves instead of the actual file. I love the cast as much as the next gal, but I'd rather know that the picture is getting acknowledged for it's composition rather than the fact that it has Jensen Ackles' name on it, you know?

As a result, I have removed all moving ambigrams and the signed photo from my scrap gallery. In their place, I have put links to the files on my photobucket account. That way they can still be viewed, but the correct files will be getting faved. Make sense?

I don't mean to be a jerk, and I realize that being on dA isn't just about faves. I know that, and that's certainly not why I'm here. But, if things are going to be faved, I want it done the right way.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up in case some of you faved any of these scraps and wanted to know why you can't find them in your favorites gallery anymore.

Along with this change, I'm also doing some general gallery cleanup: removing an unfinished trip report, deleting old screenshots, etc. This kind of stems from the same thing. My most viewed deviation is a screenshot, and that makes me sad. I want this site to be about my art, not whether or not I had a funny Amadeus wallpaper on my computer.

Thanks again for your support, everyone. It really means a lot to me. I hope this journal didn't come across as bitchy, because I truly don't mean for it to. It's just a personal pet peeve that I happened to find a solution for.

Hello all!

Salute to Supernatural Chicago
It's been quite a while since my last update, and I'm super stoked to say that I'm mere days away from the convention! In addition to getting signatures from most of the cast, I'm officially getting pictures with Misha Collins, Jim Beaver, and Alona Tal Thursday can't get here soon enough.

Cruise Contest
The names of the new Disney ships have officially been announced: The Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy. Which makes the winner.... me. Haha. I called Dream, but no one else guessed Fantasy. Thanks for playing guys!

Art Update
In addition to my latest photo submissions, I've got some traditional artwork in the works. I'm focusing on two pieces right now, both of which are challenging me to go beyond my comfort zone (one involves drawing a non-cartoon person and another includes the use of watercolor). As far as my photography goes, I feel like I've established my own style. I've gotten to the point where if someone asked me to describe my photo style to them, I could do it in great detail. I've never been able to accomplish that with traditional art, so I'm excited to reach that point with my photography.

Etc.
In other not so fun news, I think there might be fleas in my apartment... And I don't have any pets... Crap.

I had to borrow from my rent money, but the Chicago tickets have been purchased! I'm officially getting my Rock Salt Shells pic signed by all four actors and getting a photo taken with Misha Collins!!! Come ooooon, November!

I also forgot to mention that the same Rock Salt Shells pic also got chosen to appear in the next issue of Fanazons magazine! [link] It's a fan-run, sci-fi/fantasy magazine, and it's--for the most part--run by chicas! Girl power, and such! Yes folks, Caity's dream has finally come true. I'm now a grand total of $3000 in debt, BUT I finally got my hands on a digital SLR, a Nikon D80. It's insane. It's the digital equivalent of my N80, so I assumed they'd be really similar. Yeah, about as similar as Latin and French. Sure, French is derived from Latin, but they're still two different languages. Same with the N80 and D80. Not that I'm complaining. I just need to sit down with the manual and get it all worked out.

I'm really excited about this camera because now I'm much more free to go out and take pictures on a whim. I couldn't do that so much before since it was simply too expensive to pay for film development. Tomorrow I'll be heading up to Busch Gardens with the sole purpose of taking pictures (yay for free park entry). Hopefully I'll get some shots that are good enough to post here on dA. Wednesday I'll be back at BG again with *Gryphling, so there's plenty of fun to be had. Not to mention my next Disney World trip in January (also with *Gryphling, by the way). I can't wait to get this camera down to Disney World.

Oh, and the camera's name is Ian, just in case you were wondering. Any fans of Stephenie Meyer's book The Host know why.

And how I wish I were still there

Ah well, back to the real world. I'll have most (if not all) of my cruise pictures posted by the end of tomorrow. ((By "all" I of course mean the one's I feel are the best of the best. I took 9.5 rolls of film. I won't be submitting all of those.))
